Yeah, satellite radio’s future is not pretty. Much like NetFlix, it’s an improvement on an old system but will get bulldozed by the Internet.

I’ve had my 3G iPhone for a couple of weeks now and
I expected to be singing the praises of listening to
internet radio stations in the car via the 3G coverage.
Not so good as it turns out. Using the “Tuner” app,
ATT’s 3G signal or the iPhone itself having issues keeping a good 3G signal have prevented listening without interruptions from Westlake area to West Seattle on 99 and the viaduct. (Seattle for out of towners).

So maybe sat radio and local radio won’t be effected as fast as I thought with 3G cell devices listening to
internet radio stations. When it work though, it’s sweet.

i have a portable xm radio in my car and absolutely no desire to get any other accounts. all i ask in the merger is that they do not get rid of my stations (ethel 47 and the big 10 football games in particular) and replace with the crap i’ve heard on sirius (eminem station? bleh)

Given Mel’s track record, I wouldn’t bet against him. That said, there are a lot of redundancies in Sirius XM to eliminate, and it won’t be pretty.

That was tasty as bacon grease, Mel and makes you twice as queasy. I’d wait until the fines and terrestrial repeater stuff went away.

i won’t give up my Pioneer TX-9100 anytime soon anyway.
