Safran’s side project: Obaden ‘08

Cory Bergman August 27th, 2008

Lost Remote Emeritus for Eternity, Steve Safran, is trying a little experiment. Along with his friend, animator and designer Greg Pair, they’ve launched a CafePress section with merchandise stamped with Obaden ‘08 — as in Obama and Biden, complete with the racially accurate logo. “This is a test to see how people could do if they incorporated news-specific shirts,” Safran says, no doubt thinking about CNN’s foray into the news T-shirt business a few months ago. The funny thing is, I think this will sell. Stay tuned…

This is meant to be funny, right? It looks like little chocolate and vanilla ice cream scoops reminiscent of the Black and White Cookie Seinfeld episode.

Also, it should totally be O’Biden.

I’m a Dem, but I’ve gotten a little kick out of the YouTubes which have sprang-up, supposedly from other Dems, where they note that Obama/Biden kind of sounds like Osama bin Laden.

(I’m not sure if the equals sign would mess with coding my name, so search on 3u032hNHjpk for a short version and there’ll be one or two longer ones in the sidebar)

PS) I didn’t post the above comment to start a flaame war or to offend anyone. Again, I’m a lifelong Democrat and one of the things that make us special is the fact that we can laugh at ourselves (See Lorne Michaels and all of SNL)

As an Obama supporter, I would never buy this.

Sounds way too much like “Binladen.”

    I kind of like O’Baden

I thought Obiden sounded better, but it would give Biden the full spelling of his name in the shirt. Obaden splits the two evenly.

We’re waiting on McMitt. (And, of course, the lawsuit that will follow.)

I’m just happy that Obama had the presence of mind not to make Safran’s project “Obillary”.
