Google launches voter information mashup

Matt Sokoloff October 5th, 2008

It’s pretty simple. Type in your home address at maps.google.com/vote and Google serves up all the relevant voter information. Current information includes registration, absentee and early voting information. By mid-October they say they’ll include polling locations.

This is more information then what I find on most newspaper or TV station websites. Oh and if you want you can just place the widget on your website…instant voters guide.

The site is also featured on a fun PSA with a bunch of celebrities (I think LostRemote can count as my five friends).

Saw this the other day, punched in my address and it had the WRONG COUNTY. And it’s not like I live close to the county it punched up.

    FAIL.

    Still pretty cool…

    NOT SO FAST BIG FELLOW…

Coming soon! Voting location information will be available by mid-October. Until then, please check with your state or local election officials to verify your voting location.

Any mailbox will do in Oregon. Or the local library. Perhaps city hall.

As you are no doubt aware if you are in the northwestern regions, Oregon has had voting by mail for at least two presidential elections now. We got first, or something.

This feature is useless here. In Idaho, however, it might be a godsend!
