Making your Media Matter 09

American University’s Center for Social Media is hosting the 5th annual Making your Media Matter conference today. Established and aspiring filmmakers, non-profit communications leaders, funders, and students are gathered to discuss and share information around how media makers can connect their ethical and aesthetic values with their financial needs. While advocacy and social change are key concerns to this group, online distribution and commercial issues of doing long and short-form documentary and enterprise video journalism are major topics on the agenda and in the corridor buzz. Creators are also discussing how community plays a role in the work on all levels, in geographic community and affinity relationships.

  1. OT, but did anyone else notice that WaPo put its print logo on its website? The blackletter is a bit heavy, Gothic and dated. It could use some cleaning up, IMO. (This is not forbidden. The New York Times logo was updated by the legendary Ed Benguiat. Many, many publications have updated their iconic logos as well.)
