ironic? i’m guessing the PI staff was just like a lot of other traditional news employees in that they wouldn’t do jack for the web when they were working at the shop.
I’m starting to feel a bit out of the mainstream here, since I actually use my name when I post here.
Look, probably many (or most) of these ideas won’t survive, but that’s not the point. They’ll be learning experiences for the founders and good additions to the resume. Plus, when they do find another position, their online experience will give them a bit more insight into what their employer should be doing online.
But some of these ideas will take off. I was laid off nearly a year ago, and while I’m still looking for a full-time position, my personal site provided me with more income last year than I would have gotten from my “real job”. It’s insanely tough work, but we’re not all working for candy bars and pocket change.
