Company lands $11 million to roll out hyperlocal CMS

DataSphere, a Bellevue, Washington tech company, has announced it is getting $10.8 million in venture funding to help roll out its content management system. What makes DataSphere’s solution unique? It’s aimed at existing media outlets that want to add hyperlocal sites.

An interesting example of this comes from Seattle’s KOMO, which uses a CMS by Broadcast Interactive Media for its main site, but uses DataSphere for its hyperlocal sites (of which there are 45). TechFlash’s John Cook interviewed DataSphere’s CEO, Satbir Khanuja about the new round of funding:

“No one has come up with with a winning combination that allows for a scaleable roll out for these hyperlocal sites with a compelling business model,” he said. “What we are saying is our union with established media companies allows us to scale this very quickly and actually create compelling value for users, advertisers and media companies.”

DataSphere currently powers about 150 hyperlocal sites.
