A few days ago, Yelp rolled out a new version of its iPhone app that includes the ability to check-in at local businesses, much like Foursquare.

And now Yelp has connected some of that functionality online. Next to a user’s review of a particular business on Yelp.com, you can see how many times that user has checked in there, providing “that extra layer of trust to an existing review,” Yelp explains. If a user is a regular, you can see a small “R” badge, as well.
Yelp says this integration is just the beginning, and it plans to add mobile metrics as part of its free business tools, so presumably businesses can see how frequently people are checking in at their establishments.
By the way, Yelp is reportedly planning to take on a new round of investment, which is certainly a big sign that the Google talks are on ice, at least for the foreseeable future.
