Fisher Communications has announced that its hyperlocal site effort has passed a couple of big milestones. The effort now has over 1,000 advertisers and over 100 sites, including Seattle, Portland, Eugene OR, Bakersfield CA and Boise.
A local TV group, Fisher combines its traditional content with technology from DataSphere-owned LocalNet, a highly-automated solution that helps power the hyperlocal sites. (See examples from KOMO.) According to CNNMoney.com, “Fisher and DataSphere distribute the technology and sales solution to other broadcast companies looking to establish hyperlocal sites in their communities.” Datasphere recently raised $11 million to help roll out its content management system.
