Last month, CitySearch announced it was integrating Twitter into its platform, encouraging businesses to add their Twitter accounts to their profiles. And now CitySearch is unveiling directories of local businesses on Twitter and Facebook. While a few local sites and blogs have similar lists, especially on Twitter itself, CitySearch says it’s “the first resource to offer social media info for all your favorite local businesses.”

For example, click here for an alphabetic list of Seattle businesses on Twitter and Facebook. You can drill down to a category, as well. CitySearch says new businesses are being added by the day.
The directories appear to be powering the “Twitter Buzz” box — displaying the latest tweets from local businesses — that appears in a prominent position on most of its pages, including the home page. For businesses looking for new fans and friends, this is an enticing reason to add a Twitter and Facebook account to their listings.
It’s been a busy news day for CitySearch. Earlier, the company revealed a set of open APIs for independent publishers to display profiles and reviews.
