CNN just sent me a breaking news alert: “Conan O’Brien will host a new late-night talk show on TBS, the cable TV network says.” That’s a big surprise, as industry watchers (don’t you love that term?) expected Coco to make a deal with FOX. By going to TBS, Conan won’t be able to help local affiliates with their numbers. The NY Times Media Decoder quotes Conan’s press release:
“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly.”
