Yesterday, I showed you a steampunk control room. (It’s currently the most-visited page on LR.) Today, I present the world’s largest DVR, made by SnapStream. It can record 50 channels simultaneously and store up to 13 years of programming – the equivalent of about 325 TiVo boxes. (And you thought your DVR library was getting backed up.) No, it’s not on the consumer market. SnapStream says it’s just a way of demonstrating its recording and search tech. But I give it five years until this thing is the size of a standard DVR.
This behemoth doesn’t have a name yet. SnapStream is running a contest for that. First prize: you don’t have to get this thing. But you will win an iPad.
Oh – and best not to lose the remote for this baby…
