Brady: Working with TV hardest part of TBD.com

Posted by Cory Bergman on December 6, 2010

The Guardian interviewed former TBD GM Jim Brady, who recently quit the most ambitious online news effort startup at a local TV station in recent memory: the launch of TBD.com. We posted a quote in an earlier story, but now the full text of Sarah Hartley’s interview is out. What was the hardest thing about TBD? Brady answers:

“Well, it was probably getting the Channel 7 folks to understand and support what it is TBD was doing on the web, and to be truthful, I don’t know that we ever did while I was there…. Frankly, it’s a battle I’m not interested in fighting anymore. I want to be somewhere where everyone is pulling the same direction, a direction set clearly and uncompromisingly by senior management. That wasn’t the case with TBD and Channel 7.”

Two years ago, Brady left his post as editor of WashingtonPost.com in part because he said he didn’t want to play a role in the full integration of the print and online newsroom.
