Current to launch crowdsourced TV show ‘Bar Karma’

A lot of TV shows experiment with user participation, but a new show to debut on Current TV is taking it to new heights. “Bar Karma” is the brainchild of Will Wright, the video-game pioneer who created Spore and the Sims franchise, and nearly every detail of the show is the product of its online community. Through the Current TV Creative Studios, users can influence the storyline, marketing and production — even the pictures hanging on the walls.

“This is a way to take millions of people who want to be involved in the creative process and let them be involved, and then take that involvement and translate it back into making the experience more interesting for everybody — even the people who choose not to be involved,” says Wright. Here’s a video intro:

“The world’s first community-developed television series,” the show is set to premiere on February 11th. It just launched it’s Twitter account today, and its Facebook account is getting warmed up here. Sounds like a very promising concept, as well as the show itself — “a mystical watering hole that travels through time and space.”

dude…get your facts straight. Karma is a sanskrit word. It might be in Italian with the meaning calm. But here it is being used as an “Action” (meaning of Karma in Sanskrit) that will alter the future events.
