Survivor’s Jeff Probst has been live-tweeting while his reality show airs on CBS, and he’s enjoying it. “It’s kind of extraordinary,” he says of connecting with people around the world on Twitter from his living room.
Survivor is one of a small, but growing number of pre-recorded shows that feature the host live-tweeting during the broadcast. Oprah is now a regular with a Sunday night show on OWN. Anthony Bourdain has tweeted during his Travel Channel show, No Reservations. They offer an insider’s perspective timed with the broadcast.
In fact, Probst think this is just the beginning. “I feel like it’s not going to be very long before all the stars of TV shows will have it written into their contracts by the network, ‘You have to tweet during your episode’, because it’s one of the few ways that we can try to entice viewers to stay watching us live and not Tivo [record] us,” he predicted in an interview.
Probst talks a little about the live-tweeting in this video blog post.
Who would you like to see live-tweet as their shows air? On our wish list: Larry David during Curb Your Enthusiasm and Tina Fey during 30 Rock…
