Facebook’s Zuckerberg: TV is next social frontier

Posted by Cory Bergman on May 25, 2011

Speaking at the EG8 technology forum in Paris, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said that TV, music and books are the next “media experiences” that will be revolutionized by social media. “I hope we can play a part in enabling those new companies to get built, and companies that are out there producing this great content to become more social,” he said.

Zuckerberg also said that Netflix is working with Facebook about how to make the service more social — something that we reported several months ago on Lost Remote, but seemed to play a part in boosting Netflix’s stock nearly 5% on Wednesday.

His comments dovetail with a speech last month by Facebook’s Christian Hernandez Gallardo who said he’s “dying” to make a TV programming guide powered by Facebook. “Where we wanna go with television is creating a social experience,” he said.
