Last night’s premiere of True Blood on HBO sparked 38,000 check-ins on GetGlue, a new record for a show premiere, the company said. Last season, the show premiere generated 3,000 check-ins.
Sunday night’s check-ins resulted in a barrage of tweets (for many users a check-in automatically triggers a tweet) — as many as 15 to 20% of the total tweets sent during the show, according to Trendrr.tv data. True Blood ranked second behind the BET Awards as last night’s most social show, according to our social TV leaderboard.
GetGlue has lined up a host of stickers for the season, each tied to a hashtag — over 20,000 were awarded last night alone. Last season, HBO offered discounts for True Blood merchandise when viewers checked into the show. And HBO has integrated GetGlue checkins with its new social TV experience, Connect.
