TiVo learned long ago that it couldn’t gain market share by just selling its own boxes. So now, TiVo is powering an Insignia TV set — the first ever TiVo connected TV. And here’s the most interesting part: it’s not a DVR.

That’s right, the new connected set features TiVo’s user-friendly interface and access to Netflix, Pandora and other web-powered content — but no DVR. “But (it) is fully compatible with TiVo DVRs and cable operators provisioned DVRs to accommodate recorded programs,” explains the TiVo blog post.
The 42″ Insignia Connected TV powered by TiVo Design sells for for $699.99 and the 32” is available for $499.99.
