THE HOME OF SOCIAL TV

Miso syncs second-screen app for Dexter fans

Earlier this month, Miso announced a relationship with DirecTV that ties the app to what you’re watching on TV. Now Miso is taking it a step further, synchronizing the Showtime show Dexter with the app — whether you’re watching it live, on-demand or DVR’d.

Here’s a video (above) that shows the app in action next to an episode of the Dexter show on TV. Viewers can look up bios on guest appearances, participate in polls (“Who is Dexter’s next victim?”), share classic quotes from the show right after they’re spoken, receive push alerts when they’re friends tune in… etc.

“Miso is the first company delivering on the promise of the ‘connected home’ as it enables the second screen and places social TV at the center of television viewing,” says Miso CEO Somrat Niyogi.

For DirecTV subscribers, download the new Miso app and make sure it’s on the same WiFi as your DirecTV box. That completes the real-time connection — the first social experience to work in sync with live, on-demand and recorded content — and one of the first glimpses of the potential of a new world of interactive, social TV.
