ABC News Teams With Facebook to Air 24-Hour Coverage of GOP Convention

About 22 hours more than necessary.

This might be overkill, but ABC News is teaming up with Facebook to provide 24-hour coverage of the Republican National Convention, which starts today.

According to Variety, ABC News will air the content across a few of its pages. Just how, exactly, will ABC News fill 24-hours of coverage? When there isn’t someone speaking at the convention, there will be “live video of on-the-scene interviews, protests and other breaking news.”

“Our live-stream strategy is all about bringing users a wide variety of unique moments they may not otherwise see on television,” Colby Smith, ABC News vp of digital, told Variety. “For the conventions in particular, Facebook Live is the perfect platform to reach and engage with our audience, delivering a 360-degree perspective of what’s happening on the ground.”

This is going to be a really, really long week.
